Theodore “Ted” Bernstein

Theodore “Ted” Bernstein

Theodore “Ted” Bernstein, the son of Sarah and Isadore Bernstein and beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on May 16, 2018 in Dallas Texas.  Ted was born on November 22, 1922 and impacted the lives of many for over 95 years. Ted is survived by his wife of over 70 years, the love of his life, Irene Bernstein, his three children Carolyn (late Mark Korlin), Craig (Varna) Bernstein, and Scott (Terri) Bernstein.  Ted was an incredibly loving and supporting brother to his sisters, Bernice Essman and the late Sarah Goldman and his late brother, Al Bernstein. Ted was blessed with seven grandchildren Sean (Laura) Simon, Stacey (Zach) Adams, Josh Korlin, Melissa, Michael, and Allison Bernstein, and Pamela (Aaron) Pinkus. Ted’s seven great-grandchildren are Mason, Chase, and Brayden Adams, Ashley and Addison Simon, and Tara and Chandler Pinkus in addition to nieces and nephews.

Ted served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Code Breaker. Ted then owned and operated the family shoe stores where he worked many long days and nights running a successful business. Many will remember Ted for his witty and comical personality, his genuine concern for others and his unyielding love for his family. Ted was a man of integrity, his handshake was his word and he made numerous sacrifices throughout his life for his parents, siblings, wife, children and grandchildren so that their lives would be better. After retiring from the shoe business, Ted and Irene loved to travel, watch St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, and spend time with family.  Ted touched so many lives and he will be truly missed, but his memory will be a constant shining beacon for both his family and friends.

The family wants to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to a lot of Ted’s caregivers including, but not limited to Glenda, Josephine, Rose, Esther, and Bee. The family also is grateful to all of Ted’s health care providers who assisted him over the years.
