Terry David Schwartz

Terry David Schwartz, April 30, 2018

Schwartz, 75, of Minneapolis, passed away suddenly while walking his beloved dog, Friedel, on an extended stay at his second home in Germany. Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1942. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1961 and continued on to study Modern European History, receiving a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Terry was a professor at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn., for thirty-five years where he taught Political Science and English Composition. He enjoyed traveling, classical music, independent film, and was a great supporter of progressive politics. He was very knowledgeable about a broad range of subjects and never ceased learning about new ones.

Terry is survived by his wife Silvia and three sons, Gilbert (Owen), Philip (Amanda), and William (Juliane), sister Rosalyn Schwartz (Pascal Bellon), and first baby granddaughter, Holly Rae, who we are all so happy that Terry was able to meet and hold prior to his stay in Germany. Terry is preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and May, his sister Eileen, and his brother Alan. Terry and Silvia would have have celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary this August, 2018. Terry especially loved reminiscing about the “good ol’ days” growing up in Clayton, Mo. and always loved a good joke. He was a master at pranks and would play them often on his wife and three sons.

Terry loved his family and was loved by many. He will be dearly missed and his absence will be felt for a long time to come.

Private ceremonies were held in Germany and at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
