Stephen M. Sandler, 1933-2017.

Born in December 1933, Steve Sandler, beloved husband father and grandfather, passed away on May 27, 2017 in Ocala, Fla. Steve leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Gale, his sons, Adam and fiancée Rachel in Phoenix, Ariz.; Eric and his family including wife, Irene and daughters, Emma and Jane in Decatur, Ga.; and Stuart and his family, including his wife Ann, son, Jackson  and daughters Hailey and Jenna in Eau Claire, Wis. He is also survived by his brothers Win and Rob and their families in Tampa, Fla., and Boston, Mass. The funeral was held at the Fero Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Fla.   Contributions may be made in his name to help the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Steve was a graduate of Cornell University, a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and had a prestigious career in advertising after his tour of duty in France. He worked for Ralston Purina in St. Louis, J. Walter Thompson in Chicago and Leo Burnett Advertising in Chicago.  After moving to Cleveland, he became Director of Marketing for Arby’s Roast Beef Restaurants and later partnered with his wife at an advertising agency they started called Sandler & Brown Advertising. He wrote more than 500 commercials for TV and radio during his career and his headstone will say, “The Original Copywriter.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
