Beloved wife of the late Harry Richman.  Dear mother of Marty and Lisa, Eric, and Suzanne (Peter Bingham) Richman.  Loving grandmother of Michael, Brian, Adin and Megan and great-grandmother of Louis.  Beloved aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Shirley Richman lived what she believed. Her heart was a heart of action; wherever she saw a need, she willingly donated her time and her money. When natural disaster struck, she was there to help with funds for those hardest hit. She had a generous spirit, and her passions included volunteer efforts in areas such as fair housing, civil rights, and women’s health.  

Her lobbying efforts on behalf of The League of Women’s Voters sent her to Jefferson City on countless occasions. She had a passion for grassroots activism that she shared with her children, bringing them to political rallies to hear progressive candidates.

She was dedicated to making a quiet impact on the world, leaving it a better place for her having been here. She believed we have an obligation to this country and the world, and she encouraged her family to be both engaged and informed in current affairs.

Everyone saw her inner and outer beauty through her vitality and luminous expressions. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild ensured a close family, and her dedication to learning inspired all of her offspring to find meaningful education.  

She took such an active role in her own health as a fierce and independent woman who faced breast cancer and beat it. Food was her medicine, and she was a remarkable cook. 

She was an intensely devoted mother, and her family gave her a great satisfaction. About her husband, Harry Richman, to whom she was married for 64 years, she said, “I could not have had a better husband.”

Graveside service Monday, November 4, 1:00PM at B’nai Amoona Cemetery, 930 North and South Road.  Contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 3830 S. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63118.
