Sherwin Kershman

Sherwin Kershman

Sherwin Kershman, died August 27, 2014 at age 72 in Caesarea, Israel. He was known for his quiet and generous nature, sharp wit, and ever-expanding intellect. Dr. Kershman opened his oral surgery practice in Houston in 1971. He was a highly skilled surgeon, but it was his warmth, compassion and personal charm that drew patients to him. He had a great love of his profession, and his patients, staff, and colleagues returned the love. Israel had a special place in his heart, which is why he and his wife, Louise, had a second home in Netanya, by the Mediterranean Sea, and why his family chose as his final resting place Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim, outside of Jerusalem. But his greatest love was his family. He met Louise when they were in high school in University City, Mo. They married in college and enjoyed 51 years together. He is survived by his wife Louise, daughters Francine Hazan (Reuven) and Becky Kershman (Kim Hartley), grandsons Yona, Shai, and Jake, and sisters Sharyn Rich (Lloyd) and Melanie Mann (Rob). Services were held in Mevaseret Zion, Israel and Houston, Texas. Donations in memory of Sherwin may be made to American Friends of Hebrew University (AFHU.org) or The ERJCC’s Jewish Book and Arts Fair (ERJCCHouston.org).
