Selma Waghalter, died January 14, 2012 at age 103 in Houston, Tx. Born August 29, 1908; daughter of the late Sam and the late Rebecca Gold; widower of Oscar Waghalter, R.Ph. to whom she had been married 64 years; mother of Richard (the late Goldie Farer, z”l) of Houston; grandmother of Renee (Dave O’Brien), David (Rachel) and Michael; great-grandmother of Zev, Miriam, Penina and Eliana; aunt of many nieces and nephews in St. Louis. She was an accomplished pianist from age 8. She could hear any melody and play it and if not in the right key she transposed instantly. She had a good sense of humor and a beautiful singing voice. Her mother’s family were cantors from Kiev, Russia. She was very active in Jewish Ladies Aid Society in East St. Louis, Ill., B’nai Brith, ORT and Hadassah. Burial is in the Chevra Kadisha Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Tuesday, January 27 at 10 a.m. Berger Memorial
