Sam Ben Lappeman Jr.

Sam Ben Lappeman Jr., April 7, 2017.

Sam was 84. He was truly a remarkable man. He liked big band music, playing golf, eating at fun restaurants, but most of all spending time with family. He served his country in the United States Navy. His impressive business career started out in sales at a fine men’s store and ultimately blossomed to a store manager at Macy’s in Kansas City where his store repeatedly outsold the other stores in the area. He retired back to St. Louis where he could spend time with his grandchildren, but retirement was not really in his vocabulary. Sam volunteered at dozens of locations over the St. Louis area. Citizen Deputy Junior Officer with the Family Court of St. Louis County, Ombudsman for the Jewish Center for the aged, Various Hospitals in the area, the Service Corps of Retired Executives Association, and the St. Louis Science Center were among his favorites.

Sam and his wife Evelyn Kay Bassin were married for 62 years until his recent passing. Together there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish. During their retirement years they traveled the world.

Sam and Kay’s immediate family consists of Daughter Shari and husband Tom Rothwell, Son Sam III and wife Lynn Simon, Grandson Nate Rothwell and wife Meredith Mendola, and Granddaughter Rachel Rothwell.

A private family memorial service was held. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Sam’s name to the charity of your choice.
