Ruth Rockmore, died August 21, 2014 at age 96.  Our dear mother and grandmother died peacefully of natural causes at her home. Beloved wife of the late Archie Bregman and the late Brig. Gen. Martin F. Rockmore (Ret USMC); dear daughter of the late Lillian and the late Alvin Jacks; dear daughter Dr. Juliet Bruce of New York, NY and Professor Marc (Sarah) Bregman of Greenboro, NC and Jerusalem, Israel; dear grandmother of Maia Barr of Tel Aviv and Aela Bregman of Jerusalem. Ms. Rockmore was born on February 22, 1918 in St. Louis and was a life long resident of St. Louis. She graduated from Washington University in 1939. She was employed as a social worker during the Depression and after her marriage to Mr. Bregman, was an active volunteer in civic organizations. She focused her efforts on Congregation Shaare Emeth, of which she was a member and former officer, and the US Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, founded by her late husband, Brig. Gen. Rockmore. Ms. Rockmore was a longtime member of Meadowbrook Country Club. Graveside service, Tuesday, August 26th, 12:00 pm at the New Mt. Sinai Cemetery Mausoleum. Following the service, Ms. Bregman will be interred next to her late husband, Archie Bregman.
