Ruth Balk, died June 28, 2015. Born May 21, 1924; beloved wife of Joseph Balk for 71 years; beloved sister of Melvin Greene; beloved daughter of the late Jack and Tillie Greene; loving aunt to nine nieces and nephews, nineteen great-nieces and nephews and twelve great-great nieces and nephews; dear sister-in-law, cousin and friend to all. Ruth’s working career consisted of being the administrative secretary at McKnight Elementary School, assistant to the principal at the Sixth Grade Center for the University City School District and was head of public relations at the Schultz Company. She made life-long friends everywhere she worked. In her retirement, Ruth enjoyed volunteer work at the Parkway School District’s Adult Education Program for 23 years teaching English as a second language to international students. Ruth was a loving gentle woman who enjoyed people. The most important thing to her of all was her family. All of the nieces and nephews adored the sweaters she would make, the crafty gifts she gave, and the fun that they had just being with her. Giving her time to anyone who needed it, always with a smile on her face was her greatest gift of all. She will be so dearly missed!
