Rosalyn Deutch Barber was born on October 2, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to her loving parents, Julius and Bessie Rothman, and passed away on October 6, 2025. She was 87 years old.
One of the great joys of Rosalyn’s young life was the summers she spent at Camp Hawthorn (now Camp Sabra), where she would later become a camp counselor. After graduating from University City High School, she studied for a time at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
In 1958, Rosalyn and Jerome Deutch were married and started a family with addition of their son, Jeff. Sadly, Jerome died within three years. With her new head of household responsibilities, Rosalyn attended classes to become proficient in computer programming and started her new career as a programmer and analyst with Wagner Electric. Later she joined Ozark Airlines on the data processing team, transitioning for a brief time to TWA when they acquired Ozark. Following her time with TWA, Rosalyn worked for several local firms.
While at Ozark, Rosalyn met George Barber when they worked together on systems revisions and additions. Several years later, George (by then a widower) asked Rosalyn to lunch and a movie. They became steady companions and were married in 1990.
