Roger Stephen Brockman, beloved husband of Marcia Brockman, passed away on July 4, 2025. He was the devoted father and father-in-law of Tara Brockman Hicks (Jason), Emily Hawthorne (Matt), Justin Brockman (Ricki), and the late Brent Brockman. Cherished grandfather of Cora and Ezra Hicks, Jonah and Haven Hawthorne, Max Brockman, and Cooper, Benji, and Billie Brockman.

Roger was the loving brother and brother-in-law of Shelley Brockman Smith (Tom) and Gary Brockman (Jeannie), and a beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was the son and son-in-law of the late Tama and Sam Brockman and the late Bernice and Max Babchick.
Born in 1948 and raised in University City, Roger attended Pershing Elementary, Hanley Junior High, and University City High School. He earned a degree in Finance from the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity (“Sammy”). He served in the Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974, and after graduating in 1970, he returned to St. Louis to join the family business, Brock Auto Parts and Sales in Hillsdale. Over the next 55 years, he grew the business and expanded into the scrap metal industry, becoming a leader in his field. Known as a master of his trade, Roger mentored and employed hundreds and was a trusted resource in his community for all things automotive.
Beyond his work, Roger was passionate about health and fitness. A seasoned marathoner, he ran many races including the Boston Marathon twice, achieving a personal best of 3:07. He loved hiking in the mountains of Washington and Colorado with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was an avid skier and golfer and always up for a game of catch. He enjoyed traveling the world with his family, taking trips to Europe and Africa and loved visiting his grandchildren at their homes.
Roger took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather, deeply engaged in the lives and interests of his children and grandchildren. He had a special bond with each grandchild, complete with unique nicknames, and took joy in hearing about their milestones—from sports and dance performances to school achievements and Hebrew lessons.
He shared a close relationship with his siblings, Shelley and Gary, living within a mile of each other throughout their lives. Roger and Gary worked side by side for decades, supporting each other both personally and professionally. His deep and lasting relationships extended well beyond family. Roger nurtured lifelong friendships and was continually building new ones, remaining deeply connected to the community that helped shape him. He had a gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. At home wherever he was, he treated people with the same respect, charm, and warm smile. His presence lit up every space he entered. He was a man of quiet strength and authenticity, often referred to as the rock of his family. He believed in showing up, getting his hands dirty, and leading by example. Roger Brockman was a legendary man who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy for his children and grandchildren to follow and be proud of.
