Ricky Alan Covitz, died March 24, 2011 at age 61, in Overland Park, Kan. Son of the late Irvin Covitz and Sylvia Covitz of St. Louis; son-in-law of the late Rose and the late Leo Zemelman; beloved husband of Mary for 36 years; father of Jeffrey (Amy) Covitz of Lenexa, Kan., Lesley Covitz Fulton and (Matthew) Fulton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother of Risa (Elliot) Enger of St. Louis, brother-in-law of Suzy (Robbie) Katz of Overland Park, Kan; grandfather of Leo Covitz and one on the way; uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was the owner of “Rick’s Tailoring & Menswear” in Overland Park for the past 33 years, received his B.A. in Recreation Therapy from the University of Missouri, was a huge Tigers fan and loved playing handball. He moved to Kansas City in 1973, learned tailoring from his wife’s father “Leo the Tailor”, a tailor for 45 years, was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue. He worked 60 hours a week, loved his family and traveling all over the world. His humorous and often sarcastic nature entertained friends and customers alike and he stayed in touch with friends from grade school and high school in St. Louis.
