Richard (Dick) Greenwald, died April 29, 2013. Husband of Corinne. He was the owner of Midwest Jewish Book and Gift Center for over 50 years, a well-established Jewish landmark in St. Louis. He was a great resource for people wanting to deepen their understanding and knowledge of Judaism, and was one of the founders of Ahavas Chesed Burial Society, which provides proper Jewish burial for men and women. He had a lifelong love of learning and studied regularly with a group of friends who were equally as dedicated to learning. He was also the chazzan for the High Holidays at Young Israel and known for davening with a depth of feeling and kavana that never failed to move the congregation. In the late 1990’s he donated hundreds of Judaic books to Tpheris Israel Chevra Kadisha (TICK) for opening a library named in the memory of his mother-in-law Mary Canter. He loved his family deeply. He and his wife Corinne worked as a team in a devoted and loving partnership. Anything he could do to bring people closer to Judaism gave him great joy and satisfaction. He will forever be remembered by his family, friends and community and continue to inspire those lives h e touched with the first of yiddishkeit.
