Ray Stein Pomranz

Ray Stein Pomranz, 93

Ray Pomranz, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Ray was born January 4, 1923 in St. Louis Missouri the daughter of Max and Bella Stein.

She was a vivacious, energetic and social lady who loved being with family and friends. She was a past president of the St. Louis Chapter of B’nai Brith, loved to dance and play Mahjong, and continued to work part time after raising a family of four boys.

She was married for 69 years to the love of her life Irwin (Pete) Pomranz, a World War ll veteran. They met in St. Louis when she was a USO hostess and Pete was stationed at Scott Air Force Base. They immediately fell in love, and married shortly thereafter.

Ray is survived by her husband Pete, 90, and her beloved brothers Marvin and Sidney Stein. Her death was preceded by her brother’s J. Milton and Jacob Stein. She also leaves behind her four sons Steven (and spouse Meg), Jeffrey, Jon (and spouse Cynthia), and Craig (and partner Tom), as well as two grandchildren Michael Pomranz and Kristyn Pomranz, and three great grandchildren Delaney, Polly and Maisy. In addition, she leaves behind nieces Susan Shier and Jessica Speck as well as too many friends to list here.

A family graveside service was held on Monday December 19, 2016 at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge NJ, the site of the Israel Cantor Family Society burial grounds.
