Phyllis Sarnoff-Heifetz

Phyllis Sarnoff-Heifetz (nee Katzen)  age 83 of Clayton, MO passed away on Tuesday, March 1st after a 14 year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Gary Heifetz, her brother Marvin (Sonny) Katzen (Barbara), stepsons Stephen Heifetz and Douglas Heifetz and their wives and children, her nephews Alan Katzen (Mitzi) and their children and Brian Korte (Lisa). Her son Michael Sarnoff died in 1979 at age 16 and her daughter Linda Sarnoff died in 1988 at age 29. Her sister Rosalie Korte died in 1992 at age 55.

Phyllis worked for 37 years at the Clayton, MO law firm of Tremayne, Lay, Carr & Bauer, first as a secretary, then as office manager and legal assistant in the trust and estate planning area.

Phyllis was an avid horseback rider from age 8 through age 80. She was one of the original riders in a group called the Wild Bunch that kept their horses at Kraus Farms and rode the trails in Forest 44 and areas near Lone Elk Park. Members of the group often spent weekends camping out with their horses. Phyllis was active with Big Brother and Sisters and the Women’s Democratic Forum. To her legions of friends, family and many animals, she radiated love and beauty.

Visitation Sunday, March 13th 2:00 PM at BERGER MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 9430 Olive Blvd, followed by memorial service at 2:30 PM. Family and close friends will gather later to celebrate her remarkable life of love, courage and resilience.
