Sanford (Sandy) Berns, died June 25, 2010 in Germantown, Md. Forever 45 and holding. Beloved husband of Anita Berns; son of the late Ben and Frieda Berns; brother of the late Jesse Berns; father of Linda Berns and Karen Berns-Scott; father-in-law of Mitchell Silberg and John Scott; grandfather of Nathaniel and Jonah Silberg, and Suzanna, Graham, and Julia Scott. Regina Gotz, died June 27, 2010. Gotz was born in 1923. Beloved mother of Esther and Susan Gotz; loving grandmother of Dana Scott and Aryn Famiglietti Courtney; great-grandmother of Quin and Cai Courtney. Abram Wolk, died July 7, 2010 at the age of 93. Mr. Wolk was born in Bereice, Poland and immigrated to New York at the age of 21. He was a proud veteran, enlisting in the Army in 1942, serving for three years and receiving a Good Conduct Medal. Abram moved to St. Louis and opened Al’s Shoe Store with his loving wife, Sara, in 1954 and operated the store until they retired in 1982. The couple was married for 54 years, until Sara’s death in 1997; father of Monica (David Fuselier) Simon; brother-in-law of Dr. David (the late Lorraine) Feldman; cousin of Gwen Jacobs. The family is very grateful to Rabbi Daniel Plotkin, Dr. William Birenbaum, the staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital and his compassionate caregivers, Velma Stunson, Felecia Cunningham and Betty Flowers. Mr. Wolk was a generous and devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and a wonderful friend to many. Contributions to B’nai El Congregation or the charity of your choice. Berger Memorial
