Abram Wolk, died July 7, 2010 at the age of 93. Mr. Wolk was born in Bereice, Poland and immigrated to New York at the age of 21. He was a proud veteran, enlisting in the Army in 1942, serving for three years and receiving a Good Conduct Medal. Abram moved to St. Louis and opened Al’s Shoe Store with his loving wife, Sara, in 1954 and operated the store until they retired in 1982. The couple was married for 54 years, until Sara’s death in 1997; father of Monica (David Fuselier) Simon; brother-in-law of Dr. David (the late Lorraine) Feldman; cousin of Gwen Jacobs. The family is very grateful to Rabbi Daniel Plotkin, Dr. William Birenbaum, the staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital and his compassionate caregivers, Velma Stunson, Felecia Cunningham and Betty Flowers.
