Nathan Kessler

Nathan Kessler, beloved husband of Sara, of St. Louis, Mo., passed away in his home on Wednesday, August 15. Nat grew up in St. Louis, where his family attended Congregation B’nai Amoona.

Nat earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees in chemical engineering from Washington University. He worked at A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company in Decatur, Illinois for 40 years. He was active in the Decatur community until moving back to St. Louis in 1991. Here he was a member of CRC, and a supporter of Forest Park Forever, Jewish  Family & Children’s Service, Planned Parenthood, and the St. Louis Symphony, among other causes.

He leaves behind his sweetheart and wife of 71 years, Sara Ellen Potashnick Kessler, two sisters, Gertrude Hulbert and Ruth Sandler and his sister-in-law Roberta Kessler, daughters Joy (Steve Shostrom), Gail (Richard Dent), and Margie (Bob Ott), as well as granddaughters Jennifer Dent, Talissa Ford and Rebecca Dent. Nat had one great-grandson, Zev Ford. Numerous other members of the family will also miss him dearly.

Nat was a wonderful man who will remain in our hearts forever.
