Morton J Bloch, died June 13, 2011 in Sarasota, Fl. of pancreatic cancer and buried in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; husband of Lillian Dickler Bloch, his second wife; widower of Elaine; father of Michael of Rochester, N.Y., Nancy of Portland, Maine and Esther of Chicago, Ill.; grandfather of Jessica of Rochester, N.Y. Born in Sharon, Conn., in 1927, he was raised in Millerton, N.Y., graduated from Bard College in 1947, and attended NYU, prior to taking over the family furniture business, based in Millerton, N.Y., and serving the NY-CT-MA ‘Tri-State’ area. In addition to his activities as a furniture entrepreneur and business advisor, he belonged to the Masons (Webatuck Lodge) and the Millerton Chamber of Commerce, was a member local Webatuck School Board from 1960-70 and served as its President. A lifelong member of Vassar Temple in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he also joined Temple Beth Israel in Longboat Key, Fl., after retiring from business in 1985 and moving to Sarasota, Fl.
