Beloved husband of Harriet Phyllis Sherman Zimmerman; son of the late George and Mildred Ruth Margulis Zimmerman; son-in-law of the late Isadore and Martha Greenfield Sherman; brother of the late Gerald Norman Zimmerman; sister-in-law of Lenore Zimmerman; grandson of the late Louis Edward and Ann Goldberg Margulis and Max and Sara Czarnisky Zimmerman; brother-in-law of the late Arnold (late Sylvia) Sherman; committed father of Rose (Ronald) Newman, Susan (Scott) Waxman, Elaine (Lawrence) Amitin and Andrew (Susan) Zimmerman; dearly loved grandfather of Michelle (Tom) Hale, Phillip (Laura) Newman, Andrea (Nate) White, Rabbi Marshal (Christina), Jeremy (Sarah), Jacob (Natalie) Klaven, Janet (Jayden) Roberts, Dana (Elliot) Cohen, Rebecca Amitin, Marla Zimmerman and step-grandfather of Nikki (Dan) Gilsinn; cherished Zayda of great-granddaughters Ryann, Logann, Dylann, Avery, Nora, Gabriella, Hailie, Tamara, Maya, Talia and great-grandsons Kasen, Connor and Samuel and step-great-grandfather of Ava and Emma.
Monroe was devoted to his country as a World War II veteran. He was also an active member of the Jewish War Veterans.
Funeral service Thursday, March 15, 11 a.m. at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Road in Chesterfield. Memorial contributions preferred to amitchildren.org or Jewish National Fund.
