Miriam Greendlinger Grad

Miriam Greendlinger Grad passed away surrounded by family on December 22, 2019 in Creve Coeur, MO. She was 89 years old, born August 26, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Celia and David Greendlinger. 

Her last word was “Love” which is a perfect encapsulation of her life and who she was as a person. She is survived by her children, Naomi (Phil z”l) Wallace) of Charleston, SC and Matthew Grad (Mihaela) of St Louis, grandchildren, Daniel, Ariela and Francesca Grad, and Brian VanderSchauw, and brother Martin Greendlinger. 

She got her college degree in music (piano and flute) from Brooklyn College and worked as an elementary school teacher for forty years on Long Island, going back for a Master’s Degree later in life. Miriam inspired a love of learning in thousands of young children, was a voracious reader, loved listening to and playing classical music, and traveling, visiting her son in different places across Europe and even spending three weeks in China with several girlfriends. She moved to St Louis in the final year of her life to be nearer to her youngest grandchildren.
