Michele (Shelly) Ann (Blumenfeld) Sher of Olivette, Missouri, was a proud mother, music lover and graduate of Washington University and Missouri Baptist School of Nursing. Shelly’s nursing career was devoted primarily to nephrology, where she worked as a dialysis nurse at Chromalloy Kidney Center at Washington University School of Medicine.
After her nursing career, Shelly’s children and grandchildren were her greatest joys.
Among her many talents were sewing, making beaded jewelry, singing, and cooking. She learned to sew as a teenager and went on to design clothing and purses. Shelly created unique and intricate beaded designs that combined both beauty and function.
While studying at Washington University, she discovered her singing voice and later worked with a professional voice coach for many years. Shelly enjoyed sharing her love of opera with her children and frequently took them to productions by Opera Theatre St. Louis.
Her affection for animals began early in life. Over time, Shelly provided a loving home to numerous cats and dogs. Throughout her adult life, she found strength through her devotion to and study of Judaism.
Shelly was a dedicated football fan who never missed a game played by her favorite teams. She also enjoyed watching old black & white movies and classic cartoons.
During six years of difficult treatments for an unexpected illness, Shelly demonstrated remarkable determination and resilience that inspired her family and the many patients she encountered at Siteman Cancer Center.
