Michael Steven Jeffers, died January 12, 2014. Born July 11, 1953; beloved son of Shirley and the late Carl Jeffers; grandson of the late Sophie and George Jeffers and the late Jake and Goldie Perlin; dear brother of Sheri (John) Terry, Dianna (Mike) Mangan, Linda Gore and Julio Lombardi; loving uncle of Christine Terry, Elisabeth (Steve) Miller, Brenda Terry, Jason Collins, Matthew Collins, Joleen (Jeff) Darragh, Sarah (Chuck) Taylor, Erik James, Lauralee (Bill) Williamson, Carl Vogel, and Anthony (Christi) Vogel; dear nephew of June (the late Steen) Hammer, Bess (the late Bernie) Drust and Lee (Dan) Gabriel; beloved cousin and our dear great-uncle and friend. He was a kind and sensitive quiet man devoted his life to making others feel good. He showed his care by cooking a special dinner, creating original birthday and holiday messages on personalized greeting cards, and updating the family with an entertaining and informative newsletter. He enjoyed exploring the Internet web sites about history, geography, biographies and religion. He was a talented writer reflecting on a variety of topics with an abundance of wit and insight. Song lyrics and beautiful melodies moved him. Favorites were Debby Boone, Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand, but he also liked 1970s rock, Elton John and Jewish folk melodies. In 1974 he served in Germany and earned the expert infantryman badge before moving to Los Angeles where he worked as a burglar alarm installer for Bel-Aire patrol. He grew up in University City and later resided in Olivette. His funeral arrangements were provided by Ortmann-Stipanovich with burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Jake Rosen, congregational leader of Beit Chesed Messianic Congregation officiated the service. Contributions to The Jewish National Tree Fund or to MJAA.org.
