Maxine “Mickey” Gelber

Maxine ‘Mickey’ Gelber

Maxine “Mickey” Gelber, October 24, 2021, peacefully interred next to her beloved husband of 56 years, Walter, in eternity.

Loving daughter of the late Dan and Betty Koslow, dear sister of Teddi (the late Ted) Baumgarten and the late Aline (the late Bob) Lawson.  Mickey was always generous with her beaming smile and warm personality. She went to Mizzou to study accounting following graduation from University City High School and then married her love after meeting at a law school picnic. She was a wicked crossword puzzle solver and an avid bridge enthusiast; a lover of fine art and music and a master of organization and bookkeeping skills. Mickey was the constant gentle guiding spirit of her three children: Lindy (Peder) Jensen, Brian Gelber and Steven Gelber, all of whom were around her to comfort and love her in her last days. She was a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren: Stacey (Joey) Vucco, Drew (Tiffany) Jensen, Kelly (Brent) Hanks, Nate Gelber and Simon Gelber and four great grandchildren (Lilah Vucco, Sadie Vucco, Charlie Jensen and Theo Jensen) and always was interested to hear about everything going on in their lives and offered valuable words of advice when asked. She was always a beacon of positivity and encouragement to her family and imparted her intelligence and sense of calm in ways that are incalculable.  She will be forever missed, forever loved and forever emulated. Private family funeral service was held at New Mt. Sinai Mausoleum. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
