Marlowe Phillips

Marlowe Phillips, died December 29, 2014 at age 94. Beloved husband of Ivonne Phillips for 67 years; loving father and father-in-law of Barbara (Jack) Silver of Denver, Colo., Jay (Sherry) Phillips, Joann Phillips of Aurora, Colo.; dear grandfather of Randy (Sarah) Phillips, Brad (Heather) Phillips of Houston, Tx., Stacey Phillips, Rob (Beth) Phillips, Erin (Kent) Holsinger of Denver, Colo., Jeffrey Silver of Denver, Colo.; dear great-grandfather of Mackenzie Taylor, Aiden Phillips, Sophie Phillips and Layla Silver. In addition to being a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was an accomplished local, as well as nationally recognized and renowned squash, handball and racquetball player. He had won copious honors as an athlete which include the key to the City of St. Louis, key to the City of Creve Coeur, key to the City of Louisville, Ky., and first place honors in many local as well as national tournaments dating back to 1940. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. army during World War II. Marlowe, along with his late brother Leroy, owned and operated Phillips Furniture Store on Franklin, Avenue. When Marlowe and Ivonne moved to Boca Raton, Fl. in 1979 he owned his own insurance restoration company which he continued to operate when they moved to Denver, Colo. in 2004. Contributions to Shaare Zedek Congregation in University City, or charity of donor’s choice. Graveside service was held in Denver, Colo. at Rose Hill Cemetery on December 30, 2014.
