Marion Adler Lipsitz, 97

She passed this way and left us on Monday Oct. 30. A true woman of valor. May her memory be a blessing.

She lived in St. Louis and Falls Church, Va. Beloved wife of Abe Lipsitz, devoted mother to Ted (Miriam), Nina (Roger) Pitkin, Kenneth (deceased), Babette (Bill deceased) Rittmeyer, Rochelle. Survivors include six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She attended Stamford High School (Conn.), University of Connecticut, New York University, and graduated from Washington University at 54 while raising five children and working full-time at the JCCA.

Past president of Hadassah, board member of Jewish Community Relations Council, worked at JCCA until age 84. Afterwards, a docent at the Holocaust Museum & Learning Center. Recipient of the St. Louis Jewish Light’s Unsung Hero Award and Hadassah’s Myrtle Wreath Award. She went to Israel almost every decade and even worked in a factory after the Six-Day War to help the economy recover. An ardent Zionist, lifelong learner and teacher of Jewish history, passionate about Zionism, long-distance swimmer, pianist, world traveler, graceful, eloquent, mother-extraordinaire.

Memorial service to be held at Rindskopf-Roth Funeral Chapel, 5216 Delmar Blvd. St. Louis, MO. 63108 on Thursday Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. Graveside burial at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery 650 White Road Chesterfield (private burial for immediate family only).
