Marilyn Dee Brown, December 29, 1940 to February 14, 2025
Beloved mother of Hal Brown, Susan (Scott Sherman) Brown and Ian Brown; dear grandmother of Kai Sherman; sister and sister-in-law of the late Donald (Suzanne) Levin, Elaine (the late Ron) Unell, Robert (Vicki) Birenbaum, the late Steven (Marsha) Birenbaum and Kenneth (Sandra) Birenbaum; dear daughter of the late Henry Levin and Babette Levin Birenbaum (the late Samuel L. Birenbaum); aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Marilyn devoted her adulthood to her artistic passions, as a cartoonist, writer, and painter who actively produced a high volume of work over many years. She enjoyed working in a variety of media, including wood and stone carving, becoming particularly committed to digital art later in her career. Well into her eighties, she still actively produced not only personally meaningful art but a wide variety of books– including books intended to inspire children to think more deeply and creatively, and values-themed art and poetry books. Her goals throughout all her creative work were to heal, to celebrate diversity, to bring generations together, and to fulfill her perceived purpose in life: being the scribe of her own life experience.
