Marianne Collin Goldstein, June 16, 1928 – October 9, 2022, passed away peacefully in Creve Coeur, MO.
Beloved wife of 56 years to the late Milton N. Goldstein; dear mother of Jeffry R. Goldstein, Paul J. Goldstein, and Amy B. Robinson (Goldstein); grandmother of Adam, Jason, Stefany, Ben, Elizabeth, and Emily; great-grandmother of Charlotte, Miles, Aria, Andrew, Audrey, Aiden, Avalynn, Dagny, Estrid, Rune, and Emily.
Her loving heart will be missed. Although small in stature, Marianne had a great sense of humor and large presence. She will always be remembered for her daily response of “whatever” to the daily challenges life brought her way. She was there to help others when possible, and her pet project was genealogical research and completing her family tree. Those who spent time with Marianne know she had a gift for writing poetry and remembering old song lyrics. When talking with someone, a word or expression might prompt her to break into a favorite tune before adding, “I can’t help myself.”
Born in Nürnberg, Germany, she came to the U.S. in 1936 when eight years old. She grew up in Falconer, NY where her father established his medical practice. After high school, she attended Case Western University, and she earned her B.A. in Biology and husband Milton earned his Ph.D. They then moved to Memphis. TN where Milton was part of the research staff at St. Jude Children’s Hospital when it opened in the 1960s. A few years later, they moved to St. Louis, MO where Marianne raised her children and lived until her passing.
