Beloved husband of Phyllis Fine Sadwin for 30 wonderful years.
Maier was born in Matapan, Massachusetts in 1937 to Morton and Bella Sadwin. He was the third of four sons: the late Sol (Ruby), Lippe (Yael), Maier and the late Emanuel (Loretta).
Maier was the dear Step-Father of Jeremy (Malkie) Magence, Rebecca (Ari) Neugroschl, Elana (Jim) Fendelman, and Daniel (Pearl) Magence.
Adoring Papa (Grandfather) to Dr. Aitan Magence, Yona (Efraim) Paley, Ahava (Daniel) Bordan, Yakir (Talia) Magence, Dovid Hirsch, Nisson Hirsch, Yosef Hirsch, Gavriel Hirsch, and Rosie Hirsch. Keren Neugroschl, Alisa Neugroschl (fiancé Ilan Posner), Atara (Netani) Shields, Alex Neugroschl, Zvi Neugroschl, Jacob Fendelman (fiancée Rosie Weber), Julia (Ilan) Field, Noam Fendelman, Ami Fendelman, Avishai Fendelman, Alexandra Magence, Bailey Bess Magence, Charlie Magence, Georgie Rose Magence.
Great-grandfather to Yadin, Nili and Ayelet Paley, Nava and Lior Bordan, Yehuda Leib and Elimelech Moshe Field.
Beloved Uncle and Great-Uncle to many beloved family members in New York, Baltimore and Israel.
A graduate of Yeshiva University and Northeastern University, Maier was a man of great accomplishments in his career working in both Israel and the U.S. When he saw a need for a Hebrew day school in Sharon, Massachusetts, he spearheaded a committee to create the SHAS Hebrew Academy where he proudly served as the first President. It remains a thriving Hebrew day school.
Maier had the gift of a beautiful, sweet voice and took great joy and pride in leading the services in numerous shuls throughout the years.
Upon retirement, Maier enjoyed being a member of the St. Louis Senior Kollel under the leadership of Rabbi Nitsun. He would participate in the daily shiurim whether in-person or via Zoom. Each year he looked forward to hosting a Succos party for the Senior Kollel.
Maier has left behind beautiful memories and is deeply missed by his family and friends.
The Burial was at Eretz Hachaim Cemetery in Beit Shemesh, Israel.
