Mahlon Rubin

Mahlon Rubin, died September 4, 2014 at the age of 89.  Son of the late Charles and Rose (Tabachnik) Rubin. Beloved husband for 62 years to Maurine (Greenberg) Rubin. Father of Larry, Rich, and Ken (Jane Tzinberg) Rubin. Brother and brother-in-law of Shirley and Henry Kraus and Martin Green. Loving grandfather of Zach, Hannah, Jessica, and Danielle Rubin. Dear uncle, great-uncle, and great, great-uncle. Mahlon was born October 1, 1924 in East St. Louis, Illinois and graduated from East St. Louis high school. He then served our country in the Air Force during World War II and upon his return, graduated from Washington University. In 1952, he was a founding partner of the firm Rubin, Brown, Gornstein and Co., now RubinBrown. He was active in both the profession and community, serving in leadership roles and on various boards, including the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Jewish Federation, Jewish Center for the Aged (JCA), Temple Israel, and Jewish War Veterans. He received numerous awards and honors, of particular note was his receiving the Gold Medal for Distinguished Service from the AICPA, a distinguished alumni award from Washington University, the Outstanding Businessperson of the Year by the city of Clayton and St. Louis County and the AJC Netzach Award.He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all the many lives he touched.
