Madeline Rose Katzman

Madeline Rose Katzman died November 10, 2017, at the age of 95. She would have celebrated her 96th birthday on Nov. 16. Graveside services were held at Golden Hill Cemetery in Omaha on November 13.  Born in St. Joseph, MO, to Bertha and Joseph Chernicoff, she moved to Kansas City, MO after high school, where she met her future husband, Maurice Katzman, whose family had temporarily relocated its upholstered furniture business, Mastercraft Furniture, during World War II. Married in 1944, they were together for 61 years, until Maurice died in 2006.

Madeline was a longtime volunteer for Reach to Recovery, a breast cancer survivor program of the American Red Cross, as well as for Methodist Hospital, Haddasah, Beth Israel Synagogue Sisterhood, and Jewish Federation of Omaha’s Women’s Philanthropy.

She is survived by her children, Susan of St. Louis, MO, Michael and Carol of Overland Park, Kansas, Larry and Danna of Silver Spring, MD, and Howard and Katie of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Melissa of NYC, Yosef and Shanny of Cincinnati, OH, Rachel and Elliot Fliegelman of Chicago, Avigail of Philadelphia, PA, Paul of Atlanta; Gabe of Tiveria, Israel, Eli of College Park, MD, and Adam Schatz of Atlanta, GA; and 5 great-grandchildren.  Memorial donations may be made to Beth Israel Synagogue, 12604 Pacific St, Omaha NE  68154; Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, 323 S 132 St, Omaha NE  68154; Susan G Komen Nebraska, 8707 W Center Rd #101, Omaha, NE 68124 or the charity of your choice.
