Don Steele was born January 21st, 1929 in Kansas City Missouri to Jerome W. Steele and Blanche Cohen Steele. He grew up in St. Louis as an only child, was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Clayton High School and then Washington University. Needless to say he was a devoted Cardinal fan until the end!

Don served in the Air Force as a photographer and throughout his life photography was a true passion that he passed on to his sons.  Don made a career in wealth management and worked for several firms including: Thomson McKinnon, Prudential, Baird and Stifel Nicolaus. Always concerned about those less fortunate than he, he was on the board of the Miriam Foundation and was a volunteer at the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry. Don was known as a gifted speaker and spent many years in Toastmasters. His sense of humor was also pervasive and his family still borrows his timeless jokes. Don enjoyed spending time at his family lake house on Cedar Lake in Wisconsin every summer for over 50 years. He was known there for his willingness to take on fix it up projects with zest, driving endless water ski trips around the lake and most especially for being able to eat more ears of day picked corn than anyone else in the family. In his free time in both St. Louis and Wisconsin he enjoyed golf, remote helicopter flying, bridge with friends, travel, tennis and pulling pranks. The primary love of his life however was not hobbies, career or travel but his wife of 56 years Nancy Steele.
