Lou Goldfeder

Lou Goldfeder, died September 18, 2012, at age 69 in Tampa surrounded by family and close friends. Mr. Goldfeder was born in St. Louis, MO and came to Tampa in 1984 from Marshalltown, IA. He was a graduate of Rolla School of Mines and Metallurgy, now the University of Missouri at Rolla with a degree in mechanical engineering and was founder and owner of Key Controls Inc., from 1984-2004. He was a member of Congregation Schaarai Zedek and numerous community organizations including the Holocaust Museum, former board member of Tampa Jewish Federation and the Jewish National Fund where he was the 2012 recipient of the Tree of Life, Guardian of Israel Award. He was a leader of Alateen meetings for over 12 years and held meetings in various middle & high schools. He served the Harbour Island Homeowners Association as a neighborhood representative and the chairman of the Security Committee, a position he held for 18 years. He was a mentor and acted as a second father and brother to many, a beloved husband, loving father, adored grandfather & cherished friend. Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Diane, sons, Jason (Elizabeth) Goldfeder of Memphis, TN, and Aaron Goldfeder of Seattle, WA; brother, Maury (Roberta) Goldfeder of St. Louis, MO; sister, Aileen Weinstein of St. Louis, MO; and two grandchildren, Benjamin David & Jonathan Max Goldfeder. Funeral Thursday, 2:30 pm, Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 W Swann Ave, Tampa. Interment will follow at Schaarai Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holocaust Museum, Jewish National Fund, Congregation Schaarai Zedek or charity of one’s choice.
