Lois S. Schaefer

Lois S. Schaefer, died August 23, 2014 at age 68 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mother of Julie Schaefer Krell (Marc) and Eric Schaefer (Nora), both of Scottsdale, Ariz.; former wife of Donald Schaefer of Sedona, Ariz.; sister of Phyllis Lieberman (Allen) of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Gold; and loving grammy of Alexander, Jonah, Lucas and Alexa. She was born in St. Louis, Mo. August 17, 1946, attended University City High School and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., and relocated with her family to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1984. She was a former member of Temple Israel in St. Louis, and a founding member of Temple Kol Ami in Phoenix, serving the synagogue community in many capacities as a tireless volunteer and as the synagogue’s first administrator. She will be remembered as a huge sports fan, and most of all, a dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, who put all others before herself. A private service was held in Scottsdale, Ariz.
