Lester M. Richman

Lester M. Richman, September 6, 2016. Beloved husband of Andrea Richman for 55 years.  Dear father of Steven (Carrie Jane) Richman and Robert (Nancy) Richman.  Loving grandfather of Madeline and Rachel Richman.  Brother of Mark Richman and the late Howard Richman.  Dear brother-in-law of Karen Richman and Gail (the late Gary) Goldenberg.  Our dear uncle, cousin and friend.

Lester had an extensive education, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Drury University in 1959, a Master of Science degree from Webster University in 1970 and Secondary Administration Degree from Washington University in 1975.  Les was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.  While serving as the Assistant District Commissioner, he was recognized with the Distinguished Commissioner designation. Due to his extensive dedication to the Boy Scouts, he was also awarded the Shofar and the Silver Beaver Awards.  Les was an officer for 14 years with the Spirits of St. Louis RC Flying Club.  From 1970 – 1985 he was the Astronomer/Lecturer at the McDonnell Planetarium, and from 1970 – 1980 was known as “Mr. Science”, acting as the host of the Science Show and appearing several times on the children’s show, Corky the Clown, teaching young kids about science.  Les was also member of the St. Louis County Auxiliary Police from 1959-1969 and was a Science teacher at the Ferguson-Florissant School District for 40 years.

Funeral service Friday, September 9, 1:00 PM at Congregation B’nai Amoona. 324 S. Mason Road with interment to follow at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Road.  Visitation for Mr. Richman 12:30 PM until time of service.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Special thanks to the companions and staff of Home Care Assistance, the staff of division 6700 at St. Luke’s Hospital and the nurses and aids at Delmar Gardens Chesterfield.
