Beloved husband of the late Sylvia Sachs; dear father and father-in-law of Richard Sachs (Sheila), Don Sachs (Suzanne Simard) and the late Susan Ellen Sachs; dear grandfather of Jason Sachs (Elizabeth), Sara Gewurz (Ben), Hannah Sachs and Nava Sachs; dear great-grandfather of Abbey Sachs and Maya, Eli and Talia Gewurz; dear brother of the late Marcus Sachs (late Sara).
A longtime resident of the Brentmoor Retirement Community, Leroy Sachs was quiet, intelligent, interesting, and active. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England during World War II as a meteorologist. Leroy was a beloved math teacher who also led professional math teacher organizations at the local, state and national levels, and co-authored two math textbooks. He also believed in lifelong learning and received his PhD at age 72. Leroy attended Road Scholar Elderhostel educational programs annually. He also volunteered with three organizations to help seniors with tax returns and health insurance claims, and also hosted traveling soldiers for the USO. Leroy will be missed by the many whose lives he touched throughout the years.
Graveside service Monday, October 7, 1:30 p.m. at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery, 9125 Ladue Road.
