Joy Stiffelman Esses

Joy Stiffelman Esses, died February 25, 2015. Joy was a 98-year resident of the University City-Creve Coeur area, and enjoyed a 30-year career in Human Resources at St. John’s Mercy Hospital. Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack Esses and her son Richard S. Sosna. She is survived by her loving grandson Robert (Tai) Sosna of North Carolina and loving granddaughter Tracey (Nick) Durso of Arizona. She was great-grandmother to Amanda (Vaughn) Mallory and Rachel and Lillian Sosna of North Carolina. In Ohio, she has great-grandchildren Phillip and Joseph Sosna and Sarah (Adam) Wilkerson, from her late grandson Phillip. Joy was proud to become a great-great-grandmother with the arrival of Amanda’s son Grayson Mallory. Local relatives are Joy’s brother Sherman Stiffelman, his son Louis (Anita) Stiffelman, and her daughter-in-law Linda Sosna. Joy was a strong woman who endured the loss of many loved ones, beginning with her mother Rosamond Landau Stiffelman when Joy was five. She emerged resilient and fiercely independent until sidelined by a fall in July 2013.bGraveside service Friday, February 27, 2:00 PM at New Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 8430 Gravois Road.
