Beloved husband of Judy Steiner. Dear father of Michael (Jamie) Steiner. Beloved brother of Tom Steiner and Mary Portnoy. Dear son of the late Harry and Henrietta Steiner. Loving uncle, great uncle and friend.
John was a St. Louis native, who loved this City and State, and spent most of his life here. He graduated from University of Missouri with a BA and MA in History. John was an Eagle Scout. He was also a loyal member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. After college he moved to New Orleans, where he graduated from Tulane University with a JD. John then started his career as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court of Louisiana in New Orleans. After his clerkship, John returned to St. Louis, where he worked at Armstrong Teasdale and Fordyce & Mayne, before starting his own practice. At the time of his passing he had an active legal practice as a probate attorney in Missouri.
During his legal career he was active in countless boards and charitable organizations. John’s service to his community was always a priority for him. He served as a Municipal Judge for Ladue for multiple terms, and as a member of the Missouri Lawyers Ethics Commission. John took a genuine interest in helping his family, friends, and friends of friends, work through their legal and personal problems. John’s service will be greatly missed by his community.
