Jerry Berg, February 24, 2018.
Beloved husband of the late Betty Jean Canis Berg. Dear father and father-in-law of Mark (Chris) Berg DDS, Rick (Susie) Berg, Bob (Sherri) Berg, Greg (Tracy) Berg DDS, and Keith (Tara) Berg. Loving grandfather to Zach Berg M.D., Jason Berg, Jessica (Scott) Schatz, Jennifer Berg, Danielle Berg, Rebecca Berg, Bryan Berg, Madison Berg, Blake Berg, Brooke Berg, Lexi Berg, Reese Berg and Avery Berg. Dear son of the late Mae Pepper Berg Kohn and the late Ed Berg. Dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and cousin to many.
Jerry was born in St. Louis and at the age of 4 lost his father in a boating accident. At age 10, his mother Mae remarried Harold Kohn who was always known to Jerry as his father and Jerry’s five boys as grandpa. Jerry attended Soldan high school, and after school enlisted in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Colorado, his mother came to visit him with a girl named Betty Canis who had a crush on Jerry. Betty visited Jerry a few months later and they eloped. They became each other’s best friend and soulmate until the passing of Betty after 60 loving years of marriage. Over 60 years ago, while Jerry was selling shoes, a customer told him he was such an engaging salesman that he should try selling insurance. He took the advice and started an agency that is still in existence today and is considered as one of the most well respected senior insurance agencies in the country. He will be dearly missed by everybody who ever knew him.
