Jean Sloofman Payuk, December 8, 2017
Beloved wife of the late Stanley E. Payuk. Dear mother of Barbara (Craig Palubiak) Landesman, Joni (Michael) Silverstein-Sexton and Ken Silverstein. Loving grandmother of Taylor (Molly Carney) Landesman, Sophia Silverstein and Gabriel Silverstein. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lois Sloofman and the late Alvin (Kay) Sloofman, Joe Sloofman and Sidney Sloofman. Beloved daughter of the late Harry and Bertha Sloofman. Our beloved aunt, cousin, step-grandmother and great-grandmother, and dear friend to many.
Jean was, literally, one of those people that others loved to be around. She had a heart of gold, a great sense of humor, a strong faith and an unfailing love of family. Jean worked in sales for many years, including a long stint at Saks. She loved it and was good at it, which surprised her greatly. She also volunteered in the Jewish community, continuing a tradition set by her mother. She served as President and Co-President of the Women’s Auxiliary and helped in the transition to move it from The Cedars to the Jewish Federation. Jean will be missed by many, most of all her children and grandchildren.
