Beloved wife of the late Bernard H. Pinken; dear mother of Barry (Alexis) Pinken and Faryl Kaelin; cherished grandmother of Ryan (Tricia) Pinken, Rebecca (Carl) Salley and Lori (Jody) Mariani; dearest great-grandmother of Molly, Charlotte and Beau Pinken.

Jean Pinken was born March 18, 1923 in St. Louis to Rose Eastman and Louis Schuver.  She was the sister to the late Ethel Penner, the late Jack Schuver and the late Rachel Schuver.  Jean graduated from Soldan High School and she was married to Bernard on November 8, 1942, just before her husband of 73 years left for the war in Europe.

Jean was a strong religious woman.  Jean and her husband, Bernard, were one of the founders and first members of Young Israel Synagogue in the early 50’s.  She contributed many hours to the woman’s club and events for the congregation.  She was shomer Shabbos and very dedicated to her Jewish faith.

Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events.  She was a strong, determined, charitable and independent woman who loved her family and who will be greatly missed.

Private family services were held at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery in Ladue on August 5th.  Memorial contributions preferred to the Jewish Federation of St. Louis or to the charity of your choice.
