Jay Scott Broddon, January 24, 1966 – February 6, 2020

Beloved husband of Renata Vesela Broddon, adored father of Alexandra Jana Broddon, dear son of Suzanne Goldstein Broddon and the late Alan Joel Broddon, dear son-in-law of Jana Vesela and Jeremy Vesely, beloved brother and brother-in-law of Michele (Donn) Lux, Stephanie (Richard) Alport and Radim (Michaela) Vesely, loving uncle of Philip and Andrew Lux, Jeremy Alport, and David, Elias and Theo Vesely. Treasured nephew, cousin and friend.

Although he was an only son, Jay had a band of brothers who loved him unconditionally.

Jay met the love of his life, Renata Vesela, and he became a new man. Together, they traveled the world, learned and grew as a couple. But it was not until Alex came along that Jay blossomed in ways that he never before believed possible. Fatherhood became his one and only calling and she was the twinkle in his eye and the hero of every story that he shared.

Jay graduated Clayton High School in 1984 and briefly attended the College of Wooster (Ohio). He later earned a business degree from Webster University. His career included creating and running his own painting company at a young age and working in various industries in the Chicago area. 

Most recently he and partner, John Saladino, co-founded and operated United Wine & Spirits, a wholesale liquor distribution company located in Houston, Texas. Jay put his heart and soul into the business and more importantly, into nurturing the employees who universally loved and respected him. United recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and was widely known within the Texas beverage industry. 

Jay took great pride in carrying on a tradition handed down from his grandparents to his parents. Whether organizing poker games, fishing trips & tournaments, Friday night dinners or weekends at Woody Creek, every event was filled with love, warmth, laughter…and a lot of food!

There will be a celebration of Jay’s life at Westwood Country Club, 11801 Conway Road, St. Louis, MO 63131 on Sunday February 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. No visitation prior to service. The family will receive guests beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the family residence.
