Irma Zelman, died August 6^th, 2014 at age 89 in Northbrook, Ill. She was formerly of Mt. Vernon, Ill., born in Brooklyn, NY to Sadie and Joseph Stein. Beloved wife of Dr. Morris Zelman; mother of Steve, Sandy (Jerry) Lewis, and Caryl (Alan) Mendelsohn; proud grammy to Michael (Chelsea) Lewis, Josh (Julie) Mendelsohn, Jason (Daniella) Lewis, Ben (Rachel) Mendelsohn, Jill and Rebecca Mendelsohn, and Seth, Scott, and Sam Zelman. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, as a religious school teacher and volunteer the United Hebrew Temple in Benton, Ill.; as the voluntary head of the Cancer Loan Closet sponsored by the Jefferson-Hamilton County Medical Society Auxiliary; after Morris’ death, as a caring nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, Ill., and in her later years as an awesome grandmother.
