Irma Zelman

Irma Zelman, died August 6th, 2014 at age 89 in Northbrook, Ill. She was formerly of Mt. Vernon, Ill., born in Brooklyn, NY to Sadie and Joseph Stein. Beloved wife of Dr. Morris Zelman; mother of Steve, Sandy (Jerry) Lewis, and Caryl (Alan) Mendelsohn; proud grammy to Michael (Chelsea) Lewis, Josh (Julie) Mendelsohn, Jason (Daniella) Lewis, Ben (Rachel) Mendelsohn, Jill and Rebecca Mendelsohn, and Seth, Scott, and Sam Zelman. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, as a religious school teacher and volunteer the United Hebrew Temple in Benton, Ill.; as the voluntary head of the Cancer Loan Closet sponsored by the Jefferson-Hamilton County Medical Society Auxiliary; after Morris’ death, as a caring nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, Ill., and in her later years as an awesome grandmother.
