Sterling; mother of Judi Gitel of Lawrence; Abbie (Mark) Frank of St. Louis, Adam (Veerle Coignez) Sterling of Falls Church, Va., grandmother of Rachel Gitel of Springfield, Mo., Jason Gitel of St. Louis, Mo., Elka and Bram Sterling of Falls Church, Va., and Micah Frank of St. Louis, Mo; sister of the late Enid Wolfson. Sterling received her undergraduate degree from Hunter College in New York and her master’s degree from the University of Kansas, worked in the New York City Public Schools and later the Topeka Public Schools. She was a longtime volunteer at Audio Reader and a part of the Lawrence Jewish Community Center for 40 years.
