Husband of Maxine Blatt; father of Dr. Stephan Blatt, Jacqueline (David) Benedick and Karen Yuskaitis; grandfather of the late Dustin Terwilliger, Shawn (Paula) Yuskaitis and Corey Yuskaitis; great-grandfather of Sebastian Arthur Yuskaitis; brother of the late Fred (the late Ida) Blatt. Mr. Blatt was a member and past commander of the Jewish War Veterans, Post 346, and a member of the Ben Franklin 642 A.F.A.M. and the Scottish Rite. SEDELLE KATZ (NEE LIEBERMAN), died October 12, 2009. Widow of Leonard M. Katz of St. Louis; daughter of the late Frank and Esther Lieberman of St. Louis; mother of Steven Katz (Constance Barsky) of Granville, Ohio, and Daniel (Elaine) Katz of South Orange, New Jersey; grandmother of the late Ben Katz and Gabriel Katz of Brooklyn, NY; sister of Norton (Ann) Lieberman, the late Stanley (Evelyn) Lieberman, and Joyce (Albert) Weltman, all of St. Louis; sister-in-law of Berl (Joan) Katz, also of St. Louis. Sedelle was born August 30, 1923 and grew up in University City. She graduated from University City High School and Washington University with a degree in Social Work in 1944. Sedelle was a devoted full-time mother and later became a volunteer for Suicide Prevention. In 1979 she co-authored a pioneering textbook with Mary Ann Mazur, M.D., “Understanding the Rape Victim. ” She attended graduate school at Maryville University earning her master’s degree in sociology. Phil was a veteran of World War II. He was the longtime Director of Health and Physical Education at the JCCA, a beloved teacher, coach and mentor to many.
