JAN LASKY PLATT, died Dec. 6 in Los Angeles, Calif. Jan was born in St. Louis on Feb. 7, 1955. Beloved daughter of Carolyn and Allen S. Lasky; beloved wife for 30 years of Richard Platt; beloved mother of David and Jeffrey Platt; beloved sister of Sunie Lasky. Jan was universally loved by her family and friends. ETHEL FERMAN SHOWER, died Dec. 14, 2009 at age 89. Beloved wife for 70 years of Ralph Shower; dear mother of Suzanne (Tony) Walch, Michelle Proctor and the late Michael Shower; loving grandmother of Caryn (Jay) Lisota and Katherine (Ren) Rapp; beloved great-grandmother of Gracie and Audrey Lisota, Elizabeth and Addison Rapp; dear aunt, cousin and friend. Ethel was a founding member and past-president of Post 346 Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans and founding member and past-president of the Department of Missouri Jewish War Veterans. She was a founding member of the St. Louis Chapter Auxiliary of the City of Hope and was executive secretary for 27 years for the St. Louis Ethical Society. Ethel was salutatorian of her graduate class and a member of the varsity field hockey team at Maplewood High School. Contributions to the Michael S. Shower UNICEF Scholarship Fund, the Jewish War Veterans, Central Reform Congregation, the National Kidney Foundation, the Ethical Society or the St. Louis Jewish Light.
