LYDIA ATTOUN ERKER, died Feb. 7, 2010 at the age of 68. She was born and raised in La Goulette, Tunisia, by her late parents Raphael and Jeanne Attoun. She lived in Paris, France, and as a teen moved to St. Louis, where she met and later married Raymond Erker. Dear mother of Scott Erker and the late (Debbie) Erker, Angela Erker Smith, and Jessica Erker; grandmothother of Samson, Nathan, Jonathan, Max and Noah; sister of Frank and (Christine) Attoun, Gerard (Marti) Attoun, Jocelyne (Shimoan) Elbaz, Fabian (Francine) Attoun, and Gloria Attoun Bauermeister (Michael Bauermeister). She spent 34 years in Maitland, Fla. and was a longtime member of the Congregation of Liberal Judaism. Lydia was loved by her family and friends living around the world and was a great support to them all. She loved life unconditionally and her love, warmth and memory will forever live in our hearts. MELVIN KOLKER, died Feb. 7, 2010 at the age of 86. Widower of the late Diane Drucker Kolker; loving father of Elise (Rob) Sandiford, Gary (Betsy Marks) Kolker and Robert Kolker; proud grandfather of Kira and Devon Sandiford; dear brother of Ruth Brown and J.Bernard (Dora) Kolker; cousin, uncle and caring friend to all who knew him; Veteran and POW in WWII; Coach to many young athletes from the Olivette Athletic Association, where he served many years as commissioner and coach. Contributions to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the charity of donor’s choice. Funeral services held in Scottsdale, Ariz. and a memorial honoring Mel to be held in St. Louis in July.
SARA LEBENBERG, nee Goldman, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010. Beloved widow of Wolf Lebenberg; dear daughter of the late Rivka and Mordechai Goldman; beloved mother of Rivka (Harry) Spring, Anna (Fred) Dorin and Mordechai Lebenberg; loving grandmother of Neevon (Sheryl), Aitan (Jennifer) and Lior Spring, Michelle and Paul Dorin; beloved great-grandmother of three; dear sister of the late Bluma (Yudel) London, Abraham Goldman, Shirley (Sol) Denlow and Pearl Goldman; our dear aunt, cousin and friend. Mrs. Lebenberg was a Polish born Holocaust survivor whose courage and determination was a testament to faith and love of family. She died peacefully of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family. Sara was born in Sarnaki, Poland, where she grew up until the Nazis invaded in 1939. Sara and Wolf emigrated to Israel and then to St. Louis, where they raised their family in University City. Customers of the former Petrovsky’s Bakery in University City, where she worked, remembered her smile, Yiddish accent and her always slipping each child a cookie.
