Hillard A. Young

Hillard A. Young, died March 5, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice Rosenberg Young; father and father-in-law of Saundra (Bill) Peck and Janine (Charles) Pulman; grandfather of Monte (Julie), Andy (Angela) and Scott (Irina) Sandler, Alecia (fiancé Jacob Kimchy) and Jodi Pulman; great-grandfather of Nathan, Ian, Jacob, Joie and Grant Sandler. Hillard was born in 1919 to Anna and Maurice Young in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the brother of the late Ruth Strickman Schwartz. Hillard was an optometrist by profession, a beloved teacher at Temple Israel Religious School for 40 years, a remarkable storyteller and a natural role model throughout his life. He was genuine and honorable, leading by example and guiding people by his own life experiences. He loved sharing his interests in history, golf and Judaism, forever teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, friends and students. With less than perfect driving skills, he even taught the family how to drive! Family was of utmost importance. He was a devoted husband, parent, son, and son-in-law to Ida and Nathan Rosenberg and Nathan’s brother Abe. He cared for them as if he was their own son. As his own family grew he became a father and mentor to his grandsons and granddaughters, sharing with them his life lessons, grandiose stories and his love for music and singing. His jokes, songs and humor will be missed.
Our family greatly appreciates the outstanding care given by the Brentmoor Assisted Living staff. Memorial contributions preferred to the charity of choice. Berger Memorial
