Herbert (Buddy) Bronska

Herbert (Buddy) Bronska, 94, passed away peacefully in his home in Longboat Key, Florida surrounded by his loving wife, Nancy, family and friends on April 8th. His twinkling eyes, radiant smile, and undeniable wit were evident up to his final moments. To know Buddy was to love him. Buddy was a devoted and loving husband, father, Papa, and great-papa, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Buddy was the second of three children of Frieda and Louis Bronska. He attended the University of Cincinnati before enlisting in the Navy in 1942. He was an extremely proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific as a pilot and meteorologist on the USS Kitkun Bay. Following his service, he attended The Ohio State University and was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. Buddy married the love of his life, Nancy, on July 15th, 1961. They celebrated life with love, laughter, and joy. Buddy’s proudest moments were standing by Nancy’s side, holding her hand, and calling her, “My bride.” He and Nancy raised five wonderful children.They resided in St. Louis, Missouri for 54 years, escaping during the cold winters to their “happy place,” Longboat Key, Florida.  

Buddy is survived by his wife Nancy; his children Mikki Bronska Eveloff (the late Greg Eveloff) of San Diego; Michael (Cindy) Bronska of Scottsdale, AZ; Suzy Fig of New York, NY; Larry (Ellen) Bronska of Highland Park, IL; and Linda Weisman of St. Louis, MO, his ten grandchildren, Adam (Katrina) Garcia Eveloff of Boston, MA; Ryan Eveloff of Phoenix, AZ; Ashley (Tyler) Ludwig of San Diego, CA; Ali (Patrick) Schilling of Dallas, TX; Aiden Bronska of Scottsdale, AZ; Nikki Fig of Tel Aviv, Israel; Jamie Bronska of Chicago, IL; Danny Bronska of Highland Park, IL; Alex Weisman St. Louis, MO; Amanda Weisman of St. Louis, MO, and three great-grandchildren, Cruz Greyson Ludwig; Jacob Garcia Eveloff, and Liliana Garcia Eveloff. 

A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held on the beach at Beachplace in Longboat Key, Florida on April 28th at 6:00 pm. To honor Buddy’s life as a veteran, we will be holding a military service.
