Beloved husband of Mary Berger; dear father of David Berger and Leah Berger; dear brother of the late David S. Berger and Miriam Richter.

Henry was Professor Emeritus of History at Washington University from 1970-2006; was loved, admired and in the company of friends, students and colleagues from all walks of life; was author of St. Louis and Empire: 250 Years of Imperial Quest and Urban Crisis, published by Southern Illinois University Press.

Memorial service 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14 at Kol Rinah, 829 N. Hanley Road.
