Harvey R. Hyken (“Tata”)

Harvey R. Hyken (“Tata”), died October 25, 2014, at age 74 at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services were held at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, on Monday, October 27, followed by burial. Kindly omit flowers. The family suggests contributions to the National Kidney Foundation. Harvey was born in Sedalia, Mo., the son of Julius and Melvine (Judd) Hyken. The family moved to St. Louis, Mo. where he was raised. He came to Kansas City to see the Kansas City Art Institute where he later earned his degree. It was at that time that he met Linda Levine, who eventually became his loving wife of 53 years. After graduating , he entered the wholesale furniture industry as a sales representative until his retirement. Harvey is equally known in Kansas City as an interior designer.  He enjoyed refinishing furniture, music, traveling, and had a unique collection of over 100 ink wells.   He was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Barry J. Hyken. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; father of Myles Hyken of Overland Park, Kan. and Jason Hyken of Lenexa, Kan. and Amy  Hyken of Overland Park, Kan.; brothert of  Pamela Auerbach of Lenexa, Kan.; grandfather of Julian  Lande. Condolences may be shared at www.louismemorialchapel.com
